Do I need prior experience or knowledge in IT or AWS?

There are no prerequisites for our AWS Academy Course Package, as this course will take you from beginner to expert and assumes no prior knowledge.

You do not need to have any background or experience in IT, or have done any prior courses. Do not worry if you are completely new to this industry, and to using computers and technology at an advanced level.

Although it is helpful if you can use a PC as an end-user to some level.

The AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C01) exam is intended for individuals who can effectively demonstrate an overall knowledge of the AWS Cloud independent of a specific job role.

The exam also validates whether a candidate has the following:

  • Explain the value of the AWS Cloud
  • Understand and explain the AWS shared responsibility mode
  • Understand security best practices
  • Understand AWS Cloud costs, economics, and billing practices
  • Describe and position the core AWS services, including compute, network, databases, and storage
  • Identify AWS services for common use cases

The target candidate should have 6 months, or the equivalent, of active engagement with the AWS Cloud, with exposure to AWS Cloud design, implementation, and/or operations. Candidates will demonstrate an understanding of well-designed AWS Cloud solutions.

The AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C02) exam is intended for individuals who perform in a solutions architect role. The exam validates a candidate’s ability to design secure and robust solutions by using AWS technologies.

The exam also validates a candidate’s ability to complete the following tasks:

  • Design a solution by using appropriate AWS services and by following architectural principles based on requirements
  • Provide implementation guidance based on best practices to the organization throughout the workload lifecycle

The target candidate should have at least 1 year of hands-on experience designing secure, highperforming, cost-effective, highly available, and scalable systems by using AWS services

Recommended AWS knowledge

The target candidate should have the following knowledge:

  • Hands-on experience using compute, networking, storage, management, and database AWS services
  • The ability to identify and define technical requirements for a solution that involves AWS technology
  • The ability to identify which AWS services meet a given technical requirement
  • An understanding of best practices for building well-architected solutions on AWS
  • An understanding of the AWS global infrastructure
  • An understanding of AWS security services and features in relation to traditional services
The AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (SAP-C01) exam is intended for individuals who perform a solutions architect role. The exam validates a candidate’s advanced technical skills and experience in designing distributed applications and systems on the AWS platform.

The exam also validates a candidate’s ability to complete the following tasks:

  • Design and deploy dynamically scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant, and reliable applications on AWS
  • Select appropriate AWS services to design and deploy an application based on given requirements
  • Migrate complex, multi-tier applications on AWS
  • Design and deploy enterprise-wide scalable operations on AWS
  • Implement cost-control strategies

The target candidate should have 2 or more years of experience designing and deploying cloud architecture on AWS. The target candidate has the ability to evaluate cloud application requirements and make architectural recommendations for implementation, deployment, and provisioning applications on AWS. The target candidate is capable of providing best practice guidance on architectural design spanning multiple applications and projects, or an enterprise.

Recommended AWS Knowledge

The target candidate should have the following knowledge:

  • Explain and apply the five pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework
  • Map business objectives to application/architecture requirements
  • Design a hybrid architecture using key AWS technologies
  • Architect a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) process
The AWS Certified Security – Specialty (SCS-C01) exam is intended for individuals who perform a security role. The exam validates a candidate’s ability to effectively demonstrate knowledge about securing the AWS platform.

The exam also validates whether a candidate has the following:

  • An understanding of specialized data classifications and AWS data protection mechanisms
  • An understanding of data-encryption methods and AWS mechanisms to implement them
  • An understanding of secure internet protocols and AWS mechanisms to implement them
  • A working knowledge of AWS security services and features of services to provide a secure production environment
  • Competency from 2 or more years of production deployment experience in using AWS security services and features
  • The ability to make tradeoff decisions with regard to cost, security, and deployment complexity to meet a set of application requirements
  • An understanding of security operations and risks

The target candidate should have 5 years of IT security experience in designing and implementing security solutions. Additionally, the target candidate should have 2 or more years of hands-on experience in securing AWS workloads.
